Do Not over Optimize your New Websites for SEO

This I am telling from my personal experience, if you over optimize your new websites which are couple of months old, for SEO, the chances are, it may be sandboxed for even longer period.

What does overoptimied SEO means ?

By Over optimization I meant excessive keyword density (3%+ … I even find 2% to be very high) and using excessive H2 tags (more than twice in single page over and over again) as well as keyword stuffing in meta description. I have seen big established sites getting away with this but smaller new sites with zero authority will surely raises flags in googles eyes that this may be a spam site.

So my advice is to avoid using such techniques for few months, say for first 6 months, just keep on adding unique fresh content and keep on getting quality content and then slowly you can start playing with keyword density and H2 tags.

Though to be honest, keyword density is little overhyped, promoted mostly by people who are selling their data mining softwares and web products. Having nice keyword density is fine but there is very thin line between looking natural and unnatural and we don’t know that line so better play safe.

Cheers and Have a Nice Day
