Google deleting Knol Pages

This was expected!

I just spent last 1 hour looking at various knol pages which I had bookmarked (I wanted to make a post about how people are using knol for commercial purpose and how knol has just become another squidoo) only to realize that most of them are deleted.

I am not sure when did they got deleted or when exactly google started cracking down on knol spam since I wasn’t following knol anyway but as said, this was expected. The last thing google want is spam in its own backyard. This will also give Google a reason to talk about high quality of knol pages (which I don’t agree with as most of them really are of not high quality) and probably ranking them high.

So for those of you, who are looking to use knol for link building, its a good idea not to do it or atleast not to do blatantly. Commercial knols associated with products will most likely be deleted so its not worth your time to create them. What you can do is build good resource pages and then link to your twitter account or one of your non commercial site or even blogger blog.
