How to use Squidoo to get Traffic and Backlinks - Beginners Guide
- 3 Comment tags
This is First of the two parts of “How to use Squidoo to get Traffic and Backlinks” series. This is more of a beginners level for those who have never used Squidoo, if you think you know much about Squidoo than you may like to read the next advanced Article of the series.
So for those who are living in caves or are very new to web,Squidoo is a product of seth godin and as per him, its a platform where anyone can create a page on any topic. Now in the past 3 years, Squidoo has got around 600,000 pages all created by members on various topics and as per comscore, is in Top 300 websites visited by Americans.
Since Squidoo is highly optimized for Search engines (I will write a Case study about it that how Squidoo lenses gets so good search engine rankings later in this blog) hence its pages rank very well (though not so well now) and you can easily get nice and decent traffic as well as backlinks from it.
How to register at Squidoo and how to start creating pages (lens is the fancy name used there) is very simple, So just go and create your account. I will talk not much about the features of it as you can easily find it on your own.
So lets come straight to Traffic and Backlinks Part. Here is how you get good traffic and backlinks from Squidoo -
1. While creating a squidoo lens, always give it a Catchy Title but also put your primary keyphrase in it. Like “Wonder Product on weight loss, Check here” is a Nice catchy title but you may like to go with “How to lose weight in 5 weeks” or similar title. Though
2. Always maintain a good keyword density. Never forget that you are trying to rank your lens in search engine too. I have seen lot of people getting carried away in the flow and forgets about keyword density.
3. Use “BlackBox”, “list”, “quote” etc modules to give your lens a good outlook. The better looking your lens is, the more chances the reader will read your lens till end and click on your backlinks.
4. Make sure your links are not nofollow! Squidoo initally keeps links as nofollow if it thinks your lens is not good enough. If this is the case, add more content and add more modules. Youtube module and Flickr modules are good once to use.
5. Once when you finish publishing your lens, try to get a link or two from some social networking site. You can stumble it if you want. Remember, its the backlinks which will eventually help your squidoo lens to rank well.
6. Make sure the Content is GOOD. This is important as you can build 100 useless squidoo lens with backlinks to your site only but it won’t help as much as one really good lens which will rank in google as well as will get traffic from squidoo.
7. Remember, 1 Great Squidoo Les > 100 Useless Spam Squidoo Lenses (don’t get too excited with the prospect of 100 backlinks from 100 lenses, they won’t carry much weight)
So this Begineerins Guide to squidoo should help you in taking off. If you have some things to share like your experience/tips than please do post it as comments. I am writing an Advanced Guide of Squidoo and How you can get Traffic and Backlinks from it (it should get publish in few hours).
Cheers and Have a Nice Day
