List of 33 Free Press Release Websites

If you see the SEO TIps (which actually are link and traffic building tips written in 2007), you will find that I have talked about writing press releases to get backlinks. Not only you will get a nice backlink from these press release websites, you can also be at the top in search engines for a unique nicely written press release.
Though if you have money, its always advisable to go for Paid press release (I have used both PRWeb and PR.com for submitting client’s Press Releases) and the results were pretty good even though we had nothing great to write about, we managed to make it into Google News (most of the paid press releases makes it easily).
You can still submit to PRweb.com and PR.com for free Press Release but you won’t be getting a live link from them and the Press release won’t be submitted to Google News. But still this doesn’t mean free press releases are not effective. There are plenty of free press release submission sites which I am listing here, which have good web presence.
Do note that Press Release sites are not article directories as you should only submit press releases are supposed to be news items. If you don’t have something news worthy then probably you may want to skip this press release submission as their is enough spam on these free PR sites, the last thing we want is to make them stop accepting free Press releases.

Just wanted to comment that not all free press release sites worth the time it takes to submit a release. When I use a free press release distribution site, it needs to fit 4 criteria.
1. It needs to be free
2. It needs to feed their content to Google News at http://news.google.com
3. It needs to have a Google Pagerank greater than 4/10
4. It needs to have fairly high traffic. I use Alexa.com to determine this and select site with rank greater than 200,000Currently I have a list of 15 sites that fit all 4 criteria. You can view the current list here: http://bignews.biz/blog/? p=6
