What is a good Bounce Rate ?
- 0 Comments tags
I often ask for Google analytics data from many clients to see what kind of traffic the site is getting (and many send it voluntarily!) and ask me if their bounce rate is good enough. “What is a good bounce rate” is a very subjective question and to be very honest, I don’t think there are many who can answer it in figures. So in this post, we will try to talk about Bounce Rate and how can we measure it and what kind of bounce rate can be called as good and acceptable bounce rate.
What is Bounce Rate
Bounce Rate is the percentage of people who left your site without browsing any other page. So for example, if 100 people are coming from search engines to your website and 50 of them don’t browse any other page then your bounce rate will be 50%. There are other factors to consider too here like the amount of time spend on a page before deciding but normally bounce rate is associated with leaving the first page without browsing any other page.
What is Good Bounce Rate
I think the following stats can be used as a rough indication of what is a good, average and Bad bounce rate.
<20% - Great Bounce Rate, You have a very high quality website!
20-35% - Good Bounce Rate, keep up the good work
35-55% - Not Good - Need to work on it
55-75% - Bad Bounce Rate, you are losing sales and profit, do something immediately
>75%+ - Are you sure your site is not a parked domain or a MFA ?
