Why websites built solely for adsense fails ?

In one of my previous article, I had mentioned why you should stop building websites purely for adsense.
Now I am putting this article from ROI point of view that as a web entrepreneur why banking heavily on building new sites and hoping to make money from adsense is not a smart idea. Here are some of the reasons -
1. Ranking for keywords is getting way too tough - This is something which I have said it before and will keep on saying this over and over again. Sites nowdays way too long to rank means the returns take way too long to come. So effectively, your investment is “locking” which is never ideal.
2. Low returns and high investment - The only return you get from such sites is through adsense (selling links is pretty much dead) but the investment can be the money spent on article writing as well as buying links and marketing. Now this immediately puts the whole “building website for adsense” into now a very profitable model when we know there is also high level of uncertainly involved.
3. Low Market Value - site built only for adsense only gets sold for 10x to 15x at max which is not a great return considering the amount of time you have spent on building it.
So What should you do -
Never built a site solely for adsense. In fact while thinking of revenue generation, always ignore adsense as an option and treat it as an add on. And than if you can come up with some website model which is certain to give you money, go ahead and build a website and than later on you can add adsense for additional income.

I agree and sites that are built purely for Adsense will eventually drop out of popularity in the SERPs results.
